The BBH team is very much looking forward to the upcoming 16th Annual PASLA/RMA Conference on Asian Securities Lending which will be held in Sydney, Australia next week.
PASLA is an industry association that represents the main participants in securities borrowing and lending (SBL) across the Asia-Pacific region. PASLA’s aims, amongst others, are to liaise with regional markets to promote and develop appropriate regulatory frameworks for the industry. BBH has been an active contributor in PASLA’s activities in the region by virtue of our role on the Executive Committee.
This year’s conference will be held just months after the Asian securities lending industry recorded one of its strongest ever years, as 2018 offered numerous opportunities for beneficial owners to generate strong returns. Some of the topics in focus at the conference will include a spotlight on the evolving securities lending industry in Australia, regulatory updates from around the region, as well as discussions on the growing influence of technological innovation in the industry. In addition, BBH’s Zubair Nizami and his fellow panelists will provide updates on several regional initiatives including developments in markets that the association has been actively involved in the past 12 months such as China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore & The Philippines. Moreover, a beneficial owners panel will discuss the current state of securities lending from an asset owners’ perspective and how the industry continues to develop whilst striking the right balance between risk, reward and governance.
Lastly, and reflecting on the strong focus on diversity in the workplace, there will be a Women in Finance panel for the first time at the conference, moderated by BBH’s Marney McCabe. Female executives from the industry will share their experiences and challenges of working in the financial services sector.
We hope to see you at the conference to continue the conversation. Click here to register or to find out more.
